The Maldives are composed of a chain of 26 coral atolls in the Indian Ocean southwest of India and Sri Lanka. Each islet is surrounded by tropical beaches, picturesque lagoons and a rich and interesting aquatic life. A liveaboard vessel offers the best way to explore these wonderful waters. The Family orientated MV Princess Dhonkamana schedules year-round diving safaris, always visiting the best atolls for the time of year. Non-divers, single travellers and children are equally welcome on our ship. All 18 passengers will experience an unforgettable holiday week with plenty to see and do.

The wooden luxury yacht has 9 quarters for her guests. All rooms are large, comfortable, and tastefully decorated with an Italian touch. All have private en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, wardrobes and four-poster beds for maximum privacy in case of cabin sharing. There is a choice of romantic double cabins, twins for friends and solo guests and cabins with a double bed and a single bed, ideal for families. Cabins on the upper deck have windows for ocean views.


A crew of 13 speaks English and Italian and offers extremely attentive hotel service. Guests can rewind and dine in several indoor and outdoor leisure areas, including 3 sundecks. The lounge is the designated place for entertainment in climatized and colourful atmospheres. It features a bar, internet Wi-Fi, TV, computers and a library. Therapeutic massages and a jacuzzi can be enjoyed on board.


Breakfast, lunch and dinner are a mix of an Italian and local cuisine. Meals are served as a buffet al fresco in the sheltered outdoor dining area. Our chefs will cook fresh bread, pizzas and delicatessen worthy of great Italian restaurants. The bar sells a selection of soft drinks and alcohols. Vegetarian and other dietary restrictions can be catered for if the Princess is notified in advance.


Divers of all levels are welcome. Children and those who have never dived before can come to snorkel and enjoy a ‘try dive’ for free. European PADI instructors will be your guides. We use a tender vessel to store diving equipment and transport guests to and from dive sites. Each day there are two dive opportunities and 1-night dive during the week. These impressive and secure underwater adventures provide possible unique interactions with mantas, whale sharks and dolphins. Rental gear and nitrox are available. Optional activities include island excursions, beach fun, surfing and fishing.


These are example itineraries to give you an indication of the liveaboard cruises. The final cruise might be different due to weather, sea conditions and/or guest experience. The final call is always with the boat manager and the captain of the liveaboard. This to ensure your safety as well as to give you a dive holiday never to forget.

Day 1: Flight Bali – LBJ. Welcome aboard MOANA, waiting for you in the harbour of Labuhan Bajo/Flores. After a refreshing welcome drink, the journey begins at ca. 10 o’clock in the morning. Now it’s time for a short introduction to the facilities of our vessel, the diving operation and the tour program. Check-out dive: 1 SABALON or SEBAYUR. 2 SEBAYUR for night dive. Enjoy your first dinner and night on Moana.

Day 2: Small breakfast. Morning dive: 3 CRYSTAL ROCK. After second breakfast depart for dive nr. 4 CASTLE ROCK. The rock is packed with bronze and rust colored sponges and soft tree corals. You can see black snappers, large cuttlefish, pyramid butterfly fish, and red octopuses. Later in the afternoon we climb the local summit and enjoy a splendid panorama over the moon-shape islands of the Komodo Archipelago and the mainland of Flores. Afternoon dive at 5 LIGHT HOUSE in the north of Komodo. 6 GILI LAWA DARAT BAY as night dive.

Day 3: Morning dive: 7 TATAWA KECIL. 11 o’clock dive: 8 TATAWA BESAR. Thousands of fish of every colour and shape are here including regal angelfish, checkerboard wrasse and masked unicorn fish, against a beautiful backdrop of acripora corals, gorgonian fans and sponges. In the afternoon we dive: 9 MOANA‘s MANTA POINT and 10 SIABA BESAR as night dive.

Day 4: This morning we dive at our favorite spot: 11 CURRENT CITY (Batu Bolong). While enjoying a wonderful breakfast, we sail towards Rinca, relax and enjoy great views, let our crew pampering you while spotting dolphins, reading or sun bathing. 12 PULAU TENGAH (Little Batu Bolong) our new secret hot spot! In the afternoon you are able to enjoy the 1 hour “Dragon walk” to see the last representatives of the Jurassic Park on earth, the infamous Komodo Dragon.

Day 5: After breakfast we have time to move Moana back to Labuhan Bajo. At ca. 10 o’clock in the morning you will be transferred to your hotel or the airport where your airplane to Bali is waiting for you.

Marine Life: Soft corals, gorgonians, pygmy seahorses, turtles, Manta Rays, amazing muck diving, wobbegongs, crocodile-fish, toadfish, frogfish and so much more!

Day 1: Check-in on board MV Mermaid. As guest arrivals take place all through the day depending on flights you are welcome to board when you arrive and spend some time looking around Sorong, gearing up etc. Following the boat and safety briefing – its overnight to the Misool area. It is almost impossible to put together a daily itinerary due to the magnificent diving everywhere we go. No trip is the same with so many different sites to visit and explore. If there is somewhere, in particular, you really have your heart set on please discuss with the Cruise Director who will do their utmost to get you there – conditions, ship and your safety allowing!

Days 2 – 4: Misool area – with literally 100’s of dives around this magnificent area we will be in diver’s paradise for a few days. Soft corals, gorgonians – some of the prettiest corals in the world – and the kingdom of the pygmy seahorse! Pinnacles with masses of fish. Bluewater mangroves (crocs depending !) Islands we will thoroughly enjoy the Misool area including Sagof Islands, Wagma and Farondi islands;Wailbatan and Warakaret Island, Kalig, Pele Islands

Days 5 – 7: Fiabacet and Farondi Islands and after the 3rd dive of the day spend some time going around the lagoons in the dinghy for amazing sights and wildlife. Then we may head north to Waigeo Island Perhaps we will spend the day around Batanta Island, a black sand environment – great muck diving! The Mantas call us to Dampier Strait where they hang out at their cleaning stations. But this place is also fabulous for macro diving with critters such as Pegasus, Pontohi Pygmy Seahorse, pipefish etc. And two dives at a small island called Arborek, with a lovely village and a jetty great for diving! The jetty pillars are covered in soft corals – a photographer’s delight and also good for macro such as signal gobies, nudibranchs and more Pohtohi’s etc. Dive around the island of Kawe a great place for schooling fish, and beautiful reefs covered in black coral bushes. And dive Alyui Bay (or a full day around Alyui Bay). In Alyui Bay there is a pearl farm. We can tour the pearl farm and learn how they harvest the pearls, and the whole process of pearl farming. You can even buy pearls. Diving in Alyui bay is good for macro and wide angle. Walls covered with soft corals and sea fans with lots of nudies and pygmies. Also a great night dive in the jetty;Raja Epaulette Shark (walking sharks), wobbegongs, crocodile fish, toadfish and frogfish. Dive around the island of Yanggefo – beautiful mangrove areas, stunning reefs covered in orange and purple soft corals, and submerged reef with lots of schooling fish, and pygmies.The Strait of Dampier is also well known for the amount of schooling fish. There are several pinnacles with zillions of fish. Also the tips (capes) of several islands with again lots of schooling fish;schools of barracudas, school of bigeye jacks, snappers, zillions of fusiliers and surgeonfish, etc…. And lots of wobbegongs.

Day 8: 2 dives in the Strait of Dampier. More of the same. Fish, fish, fish, glorious corals and all! Then back to Sorong, we must go. The crew will take care of rinsing and pack your equipment during this 4-5 hour run.

Day 9: After breakfast, we transfer you ashore to continue your vacation…or its time to head home to start planning your next Mermaid Liveaboards cruise!
