Moana accommodates its guests below deck in 5 twin or double cabins. An extra bed for a child can be provided. Each air-conditioned cabin with portholes has a private bathroom with toilet and shower. Clean towels are part of the service. Your cabin is stylishly decorated with teak wood furniture and comfortable blue bed linen. Valuables and travel documents can be stored in our ship’s safe.
The cool and cosy lounge is furnished with comfortable sofas, charging points and a library with literature about the domestic marine life you can witness daily. The large shaded sundeck is always a prime place to relax. We supply blankets for stargazers.
Onboard we serve breakfast in informal buffet-style. Lunch is 2 courses and dinner 3 courses (world-famous) Indonesian- and international cuisine served al fresco as well as inside according to your preference. Vegetarian choices are available. Our chefs will always consider your special wishes. The bar offers an excellent wine selection, cold beers and spirits on sale. Tea and coffee, soft drinks and water are complimentary.
The dive deck with rinse tanks and a warm shower is situated at the stern of the ship. From the platform, it is easy to enter the zodiac that will bring you and your guide to the numerous diving sites of your choice. Plenty of personal attention is guaranteed. Next, to a diversity of diving courses, we have a rental service for all your equipment (No nitrox). For those who are interested, we propose an excursion into Komodo National Park with hikes to the top of the island. Sea kayaking is facilitated by Moana liveaboard.
These are example itineraries to give you an indication of the liveaboard cruises. The final cruise might be different due to weather, sea conditions and/or guest experience. The final call is always with the boat manager and the captain of the liveaboard. This to ensure your safety as well as to give you a dive holiday never to forget.
Komodo National Park
- Departure Port: The trip begins in Labuan Bajo, You will be picked up at the airport of Labuan Bajo by a Moana crew member. Alternatively, you will be picked up from your local hotel
- Return Port: LABUHAN BAJO, FLORES
- Length: 6 Days / 5 Nights (Approximately 20 dives in total)
- Experience level: Open Water – No minimum logged dives required.
The Komodo National Park is made up of the Komodo Island as well as many small and medium sized islands including Rinja, Padar,Tatawa and Sabayor. The water surrounding these islands abounds with marine life. Strong currents surge between the islands on a daily basis. These currents bring with them the rich nutrients vital to this thriving marine eco system.
Large groupers can be seen on most dives and we have lately been encountering some of the biggest Napolean wrasse in years. Diving with manta rays within the Komodo national park is a common occurrence as well as turtles and eagle rays.
Visibility extends from 10 up to 30 metres. Usually clearer in the warmer northern waters, Sea Conditions are usually very favorable. The Archipelago offers great protection from open ocean swells and many safe and calm anchorages
LABUAN BAJO, FLORES
Welcome aboard MOANA, waiting for you in the harbour of Labuan Bajo/Flores. After a refreshing welcome drink, the journey begins at ca. 10 o’clock in the morning. Now it’s time for a short introduction to the facilities of our vessel, the diving operation and the tour program. Check-out dive: 1 SABALON or SEBAYUR. 2 SEBAYUR for night dive.
Day 2 – 3
NORTH KOMODO – Small breakfast. Morning dive: 3 CRYSTAL ROCK. After second breakfast depart for dive nr. 4 CASTLE ROCK. The rock is packed with bronze and rust colored sponges and soft tree corals. You can see black snappers, large cuttlefish, pyramid butterfly fish, and red octopuses. Later in the afternoon we climb the local summit and enjoy a splendid panorama over the moon-shape islands of the Komodo Archipelago and the mainland of Flores. Afternoon dive at 5 LIGHT HOUSE in the north of Komodo. 6 GILI LAWA DARAT BAY as night dive.
CENTRAL KOMODO – Morning dive: 7 TATAWA KECIL. 11 o’clock dive: 8 TATAWA BESAR. Thousands of fish of every colour and shape are here including regal angelfish, checkerboard wrasse and masked unicorn fish, against a beautiful backdrop of acripora corals, gorgonian fans and sponges. In the afternoon we dive: 9 MOANA‘s MANTA POINT and 10 SIABA BESAR as night dive.
KOMODO – RINCA: This morning we dive at our favorite spot: 11 CURRENT CITY (Batu Bolong). While enjoying a wonderful breakfast, we sail towards Rinca, relax and enjoy great views, let our crew pampering you while spotting dolphins, reading or sun bathing. 12 PULAU TENGAH (Little Batu Bolong) our new secret hot spot! In the afternoon you are able to enjoy the 1 hour “Dragon walk” to see the last representatives of the Jurassic Park on earth, the infamous Komodo Dragon.
