KLM Sunshine

SUNSHINE; THE PERFECT RESORT AND LIVEABOARD DIVING HOLIDAY IN ONE BREAK.

Blue Bay Divers is a paradisiacal dive resort located on the Island Sahaung in Bangka, at the north point of Sulawesi. Here we delight in the unique opportunity to have a liveaboard vessel at our disposal. Aboard the stylish Sunshine, we organize cruises to Halmahera, Sangihe Islands and Buyat Bay. The length of these trips varies from 7 to 11 days. The traditional schooner was specially constructed for the scuba sports. It has a length of 30 meters with an indigenous ironwood exterior and teak interior. It can accommodate 8 guests (possibly 10 as a charter}. Combining a stay at our resort and joining one of our cruises constitutes the perfect diving holiday.

Sangihe Islands
  • Departure Port: Sahaung
  • Return Port: Sahaung
  • Length: 10 Days / 9 Nights (Approximately 26 dives in total)
  • Experience level: Advanced Open Water – 50 minimum logged dives required.

North Tour Sangihe Archipelago

Sangihe’s best feature is its natural seclusion and untamed nature. Calderas rise up from sandy beaches and at night, red-hot lava spews from Siau volcano. You can even dive on an underwater volcano or on a lava flow. Cool. Ruang Lava Flow is a massive swath of black lava flows down the mountain into the sea where it becomes a beautiful coral reef.

Mahengetang Volcano is a site not to be missed. It may be your only chance to dive on a real underwater volcano. The vent, just below the surface, is desolate and strewn with huge boulders. Hundreds of tiny bubbles race to the surface as gasses escape from deep inside the volcano. Everything is covered with yellow “dust” (sulfurous deposits). Look closely though and you’ll see tiny sea stars, algae, small worms and sprouting corals–a new coral reef in the making. The other side of the volcano has already been successfully colonized with the once barren seascape now a lovely coral reef.

The southernmost island in the group is a plateau with patch reefs, pinnacles and lots of soft coral cover called Biaro Island. Groups of sweetlips, snappers and bumphead parrotfish complete the scene.

While this is the description of a typical dive trip, actual trips may vary due to wind and sea conditions, weather or guests preference.

Halmahera is the new “in” dive destination in Indonesia. It’s the place that everyone is talking about but few divers have yet visited the region due to its isolation. Since 2012 we also operating the first Halmahera Exploration Trips.

Via Lembeh strait and Tifure Island until Bacan Labuha Island and the Archipelago. Tifore, Nappo Atoll, Siko Island via Taneti (Aquator Point and Manta Bay) until Lata Lata and Dragon Rock – the Main Stations during this Trip.

Unspoiled Coral Reefs, Baracuda Schools, Mantas and Sharks but also Macro marine life like Hypocampus Denise, Bagibanti and Pontohi are awaiting you here. Muck diving Spots with Rhinopias, Wonderpus, Mimic Octopus, as an example, we can find here too. Divers talk of even more diversity than Raja Ampat, and that’s saying something.

KLM Sunshine is the Pioneer which is discovering and exploring South Halmahera.

Black sandy-bottom and the famous Critter Diving in Lembeh, but also coral dive sites, such as Lion Head, Punteng Batu, Batu Kapal, Angels window. Those who like to dive with us night dives in Lembeh or early morning dives in spots like Batu Punteng or Angels Window is this tour definitely interesting. We also can take our guests to the less popular dive spots south of Lembeh e.g. the wrecks If the weather allows it, we come back following the outside coats line of the Lembeh Island.

In Pulau Dua, we discovered some new – breathtaking – dive sites on the way to Tompotika. In the Tompotika area, we found uninhabited and healthy reefs with a large fish richness. Also for macro fans – because on the black sand beaches a „Lembeh Strait Feeling“ comes up, however without many divers no other dive boats or divers. We are thrilled by this dive sites and the above water beauty.
