DAMAI 2; EXPLORING THE RICHNESS OF INDONESIAN SEALIFE AND HOSPITALITY

Our beautiful 2011 liveaboard was specially constructed for scuba diving in the Indonesian Archipelago. It has a length of 40 meters and a width of 9 meters. The wooden ex- and interior provides you with a feeling of warmth and luxury in indigenous style. This vessel accommodates 12 guests (possibly 14 as a charter). Comfort and safety are our key issues. We offer diving trips to Alor, Bali, Banda Sea, Cendrawasih Bay, Komodo, Raja Ampat, Asmats, Triton Bay and the Forgotten Islands. The length of the trip varies from 7 to 15 days. The Damai crew will make sure that the onboard experience and the underwater adventures will make an unforgettable impression on every guest.

ACCOMMODATION

Damai 2 accommodates its guests in 7 deluxe cabins. All cabins have an en-suite bathroom and individual airco, wardrobes and flat screen tv. Daily housekeeping, including towels and toiletries, are part of the service. Below deck has a master cabin and 4 double cabins. The main deck has 1 master cabin and the bridge deck has a double cabin. Both master cabins (40 sqm) have a private balcony and panoramic ocean view. All cabins have a day bed. These can be used for a twin configuration.

COMFORT

The cool and spacious lounge area is furnished with comfortable sofas, dining table, fridge, charging points, tv, library etc. The large shaded sundeck is a magnificent place to rest and marvel at the views. You will find total relaxation and refreshment in the massage room/spa. Our crew consists of 18 dedicated and highly trained members.

CATERING

On the menu are a continental and cooked breakfast, lunch, in between snacks and a la carte dinner. Vegetarian- and other dietary requirements will be accommodated by our chefs. There can be outside dining as well as inside the lounge.

DIVING

The stunning underwater world of Indonesia will be divulged to you by our divemasters. They will assist you in every way and take care of your safety. Gear up and changeover on the dive deck with rinse tanks and showers. Each diver can choose to dive with either air or nitrox. For those who are not certified, we have courses available on board. All dives start from a custom build diving zodiac. After your dive check and share your footage at the specially equipped camera room.

ITINERARIES

These are example itineraries to give you an indication of the liveaboard cruises. The final cruise might be different due to weather, sea conditions and/or guest experience. The final call is always with the boat manager and the captain of the liveaboard. This to ensure your safety as well as to give you a dive holiday never to forget.

Komodo
  • Departure Port: Labuan Bajo
  • Return Port: Bima

Diving in the Komodo National Park is an amazing experience. The abundance and variety of large and small animals, reef creatures and pelagics, invertebrates and vertebrates, shallow reefs, drop-offs and drift dives produces exceptional diving, widely regarded as some of the best in the world.

Day 1: Pickup from your hotel or the airport. Board Damai and enjoy welcome briefing and drink & cabin allocation before setting sail for your Komodo adventure!

Days 2 – 6: Enjoy 3-4 dives per day including night dives exploring Komodo National Park. Dive world-famous dive areas such as Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, Golden Passage, Padar, Batu Balong and Gili Lawa Laut. Visit Pink Beach and relax in comfort.

Day 7: Your cruise comes to an end and you will be transported to the airport after breakfast.

Komodo: The diversity of marine life in Komodo is amazing. The colours are stunning. The mix of large and small animals, reef creatures and pelagics, invertebrates and vertebrates, shallow reefs, drop-offs and drift dives produces exceptional diving.

Raja Ampat

These jewel-like islands are caressed by a convergence of swift nutrient-rich currents. Here the pulse of marine life thrives from the sea floor to the surface where the kaleidoscope of corals can start in less than a meter of water.

There are sites that are so pristine and packed with growth, that a photographer is hard-pressed to find a spot to place a steadying finger. Exotic sea life and macro critters abound of course, and photo opportunities border on overwhelming. But at the end of the day, the most memorable moments for us are what can rarely be captured in digital format.

The incredible experience of drifting along miles of exquisite reef brimming with hues and activity the likes of which few have ever experienced.

Alor - Komodo

Arrive in Labuan Bajo and head straight out into the national park to dive the current rich iconic site of Batu Bolong and Karang Makassar for some manta magic. Move north to the schooling fish at the pinnacles of Castle Rock and Crystal Rock.

Back in the central channel enjoy the beautiful island of Padar and go frogfish hunting on 3 Sisters. Dive Manta Alley on the southern point of Komodo, a large site with schooling fish, interesting topography and hopefully some mantas. Enjoy the famous Horseshoe Bay with its great diving and its proximity to Dragon Beach.

Head to the north of Rinca for a great muck dive at Wainilu and the chance to trek on the island with the endemic Komodo Dragons.

Raja Ampat - Triton Bay

Board the boat in Kaimana, Papua and explore the current rich waters of Triton Bay. The colourful soft-corals, schooling fish, endemic critters, prehistoric cave art and maybe even a whale shark will make this destination unforgettable. As you make your way north to the macro dive at Momon you can also experience the wonderful fresh-waterfall blending with the sea. Hop up to Pulau Pisang and then onto the centre of all marine biodiversity in the world. Be prepared for Raja Ampat to wow you in both the north and the south. For some topside, adventure visit the limestone lagoons by boat or climb the limestone cliffs for panoramic views.

Alor

Go straight into Maumere Bay for a checkout dive on the walls at Pomana. Head over to the island of Serbete and down through the channel for some critter diving at Adonara. Explore along the south coast diving some of the fishiest reefs in Indonesia; keep your eyes open for pelagics, mantas, mola mola and passing cetaceans.

Enjoy some world class muck diving at Waiwewong and then head back to the north coast to dive Tanjung Bacatan and maybe visit the Volcano at Komba if there are any fireworks to see. Stop off at Rusa for some amazing reef dives on these beautiful rocks covered in orange soft corals and schooling fish. Enjoy the current rich Pantar Straits and Pulau Pura with some good muck in Kalabahi Bay and Beangabang before flying out of Kupang.

Marine LifeThe muck dive in the bay of Beang Abang, the always fishy Alor Kecil or the walls of Pulau Wetar are part of highlights of this area, as complete as any in the world: mammals, big fish or small invertebrates. All in one!!
