AMIRA; ADMIRATION AND RESPECT FOR NATURE’S DELICATE AFFLUENCE.

With 52 meters of sheer beauty and elegance, this schooner brings you to the best diving spots of eastern Indonesia and the Moluccas. She was traditionally built in Sulawesi in 2010 and equipped with state of the art navigation- and security techniques. Destinations include Raja Ampat, Misool, Triton Bay, Banda Sea, Komodo, Cenderawasih Bay, Halmahera, Alor and all of the Forgotten Islands. Preservation of these sites and ecological awareness are of great importance to the Amira enterprise. Journeys vary from 11 to 13 nights. The maximum number of guests is 19 during our standard trips and possibly more as a charter.

ACCOMMODATION

Our cabins have an individual controlled air conditioning system and en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet. The abundant use of indigenous tropical wood creates an atmosphere of luxury and extravagance. 7 cabins on the lower deck have portholes for natural light. 4 cabins on the upper deck have large windows. We have a choice of double and 1 single cabin. All our double cabins can be set as either twin or double bed. The sizes vary between 10 and 14 sqm.

COMFORT

25 friendly and competent crewmembers take care of your wellbeing during the journey. Most of them are multilingual. Communal areas include a bar/restaurant, a lounge with TV and library and also a briefing lounge to prepare you for the next diving challenge. On deck are several relaxing spaces, both sunny and shaded. Massages can be enjoyed on our liveaboard.

CATERING

Healthy and delicious food is served 4 times a day. We offer a light breakfast before the first dive. After the first dive, we have a cooked breakfast made to order. Lunch is usually served as a buffet with a great choice of dishes. Dinner can be a 4-course meal as well as a buffet, or even a barbeque on the beach.

DIVING

The practically designed dive deck offers a huge space for divers and guides. There are storage areas for cameras, dive lamps etc. and enough rinse tanks and showers. The diving equipment stays mounted on the tank during the whole trip and the tanks are filled in situ with air or nitrox. The camera room has a large workbench as well as downloading possibilities. A selection of dive courses is available onboard, among which a rebreather course. A typical diving day consists of four dives including one night dive. 3 zodiacs bring small groups to the selected diving grounds. Land excursions are optional but very much recommended.

These are example itineraries to give you an indication of the liveaboard cruises. The final cruise might be different due to weather, sea conditions and/or guest experience. The final call is always with the boat manager and the captain of the liveaboard. This to ensure your safety as well as to give you a dive holiday never to forget.

Misool - Halmahera
  • Departure Port: Sorong

West-Papua is without a doubt the best diving region in Indonesia and one of the best diving destinations in the world. The Moluccas still offer many previously unvisited dive sites. The tours run from Sorong to the underwater highlights of Misool.

Pulau Pisang has healthy, species-rich coral reefs, which are home to a large number of colourful reef fish and very good visibility.

In the south of Bacan offers large fish swarms, currents and excellent muck diving with many critters on the black volcanic sand.

Near Pulau Guraici, we can expect some of the best dive sites in this region – with a huge variety of fish species among colourful coral reefs.

The dive sites of Pulau Tifure (Pulau Gureda) offer limestone cliffs, plenty of marine life as Barracuda swarms and healthy coral reefs.

At Lembeh Straight – the Critter capitol of the world – we will conclude our tour with some excellent muck diving.

The dive cruise ends in Bitung.

We offer 3-4 dives daily, including a dusk or a night dive if possible. When crossing only 2 dives a day can be scheduled.

Day 11:

The final day of diving with 2 scheduled dives – sailing towards Bitung Harbour.

Day 12:

After breakfast and check-out, we start preparing for disembarkation in Bitung. We say goodbye to our guests and wish them farewell! Amira crew will organize the transfer to the Airport and assist at check-in for onward flights.

Our first dives will be conducted at Lembeh Strait – the Critter capitol of the world with some excellent muck diving.

Snake Adventure

On this special tour, we will visit some of the most spectacular dive spots around the Banda Islands.

This tour will start in the bay of Ambon, an extraordinary muck diving region. Places like Laha and Air Manis have surprised many divers. Finally, a beautifully overgrown wreckage is awaiting exploration.

Lucipara, a small group of islands is another destination on this trip. Among these sandy islands, with steep and lusciously overgrown cliffs, are interesting caves and grottos to be explored. Fascinating on this dive site are huge gorgonian, giant sponges and whip corals, as well as turtles and different fish, including sharks.

Diving among the snake island Gunung Api will leave a lasting memory. This small volcanic island is surrounded by steep, rocky cliffs reaching over 4000m in depth. Even though there is less diversity of marine life available compared to Raja Ampat, it none the less presents a unique diving environment. Nowhere else can so many and diverse types of sea snakes, native to this region, be seen. Gunung Api is also the nesting place of large colonies of ocean birds. During calm seas, it is possible to explore the island on foot.

Komodo
  • Departure Port: Labuan Bajo

Amira’s dive trips to the Komodo National Park and surrounding Islands embark either in Bali, Labuan Bajo or Maumere. This way, we are able to offer a variety of dive itineraries for this unique dive region.

After the first night-crossing, the island of Satonda is reached where the first dives also take place.

During the second night, the Amira arrives at the volcanic island of Sangeang. Here, amongst other things, the diving site Black Forest with its wealth of black coral, hot water springs and gas bubbles rising through the sand guarantee enthusiasm.

Following the dives in Sangeang, the island of Komodo is reached after a short crossing. Famous fish-rich sites like Castle Rock and Manta Valley make the divers heart beat faster. As here, strong currents lead to spectacular dives with abundant fish life, so that schooling fish, sharks or manta rays can almost be guaranteed.

The island of Rinca with its Horseshoe Bay is located south of Komodo. Magnificently covered drop-offs and exceptional macro dives make Rinca another highlight of the tour. Cannibal Rock and Larry´s Yellow Wall of Texas are also a delight for discerning divers.

Day 11:

The final day of diving with 2 scheduled dives – sailing towards Maumere Harbour.

Day 12:

Jewels of Indonesia

Under favourable weather conditions, this tour in the Banda Sea may span all the way to Manuk. These volcanic spice islands are embedded in a diverse tropical landscape that was shaped by geological formations and is located about 60 km south of Banda. Underwater you will encounter a remarkable number of fire corals and sponges that are several meters high. On the east side of Manuk, there are steep ravines and beautiful gorgonian forests. Around the legendary “Tanjung Ular” the cape of snakes, many different snake species can be discovered accompanied by large schools of barracudas, turtles and sharks. The crowning of the tour is without a doubt the coral and macro paradise of the island of Misool. Dive sites like Gorgonian Passage, Fiabacet and many others are guarantors of colourful, memorable dives.

Raja Ampat

West-Papua is without a doubt Indonesia’s best diving area and one of the best dive destinations worldwide.

With over 600 species of coral, a huge variety of colourful macro creatures and numerous fish species of all sizes, Raja Ampat is a hotspot of biodiversity – this area has been rightly called a species factory by leading marine biologists.

During the trips in West-Papua, the Amira visits the most beautiful dive sites of Raja Ampat.

From Sorong, the trip takes you to the coral and macro paradise of the island of Misool. Dive sites like Gorgonian Passage, Fiabacet and many more are a guarantee for colourful and memorable dives.

The second part of the trip leads to the northern part of Raja Ampat where in addition to the dives in fish-rich waters the spectacular scenery ensures interest.

The cruises come to a crowning conclusion at the famous dive sites of Cape Kri and Manta Point by Mansuar.

Marine Life:

At least 75 percent of all coral species can be found in Raja Ampat, divers can expect a range of topography from soft corals and sea fans, to hard corals, seagrass beds, mangroves, shallow reefs, deep drop-offs, caves, black sand and white sand. Giant manta rays, sea turtles, sharks, cuttlefish, pipefish, various seahorse species and massive schools of reef fish are the norm, plus the delightful wobbegong sharks and epaulette sharks inhabit these waters too

The ‘Forgotten Islands’ are a remote chain of islands spanning over 1’000km embedded in a magnificent landscape far from any hustle and bustle of metropolitan areas. They extend from Timor to West Papua and were discovered by the Portuguese. Ever since its’ main trade has been in spices. These volcanic islands offer some of the best and still largely unexplored dive sites in the Indonesian waters. Clear, Deep blue waters, endless reefs, spectacular walls of and colourful coral are clearly a diver’s dream.
