OCEANIC liveaboard; INTIMATE AND INTENSE EXPEDITIONS IN INFORMAL ENTOURAGE.

Oceanic liveaboard is the smaller sister of SMY Ondina. Between them, they possess an impressive buildup of more than 16 years of knowledge and experience in the scuba diving leisure cruises throughout the Indonesian inner seas.

The relatively small schooner (28 by 6 meters) specializes in intimate and informal expeditions with plenty of personal attention and flexibility in every aspect of the trip.

Diving destinations include the remote islands of the Banda Sea, Ambon, Maumere, Komodo national park, Flores, Raja Ampat, Alor straits, and the Forgotten Islands. The duration of these intense trips varies from 6 to 12 days.

Accommodation

Oceanic liveaboard welcome 12 guests in 6 double cabins with optional double bed or twin beds. These rooms are upgradable to triple occupancy on request. Five cabins are located on the lower deck and have portholes. One upper deck suite has big windows.

All have en suite bathrooms and restrooms. The size and layout of our ship make it perfectly suitable for family and group boat charters.

The wooden carpentry and carvings add warmth to the modern and clean interior of Oceanic liveaboard. Enjoy the comfort of our climatized lounge, where an ample selection of books to determine fish species, movies, and documentaries are at your disposal.

A particular camera room facilitates the preparation and charging of your underwater equipment.

Several outdoor leisure areas offer shaded or sunny relaxation options for you and your fellow travelers. Of course, you can retire to your cabin and enjoy the soothing sounds and motions of a smoothly floating wooden ship.

Catering

Our international kitchen serves delicious and healthy dishes. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served as informal and efficient buffets. In between, snacks, fruits, and drinks are available at any time.

Our chefs accommodate vegetarian- and other dietary requirements. You can enjoy food indoors as well as on the open-air deck. We have a bar serving coffee, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages.

Diving

The onboard care and pampering enable you to be entirely ready for the daily diving adventures that start from a custom build diving zodiac.

Our professional divemasters give undiluted attention to divers of all levels as well as to snorkelers. The dive deck has all the space and amenities for hassle-free diving and easy maintenance of your equipment.

We have a rental service for all your gear, including Nitrox. Courses are available. We offer our guests the opportunity to participate in land excursions or beach recreation. The flexibility of our team has no limits.

Day 1: Transfer to the boat upon arrival in Bima, welcome drink, and accommodation. Two dives in Bima bay: check dive in the afternoon in Bethlehem or Tanjung Batu Putih, plus night dive.

Day 2: Four dives on the volcanic island of Sangeang. Bubble Reef (a beautiful coral garden at the foothills of a volcano, bubbles of the underwater vents emerging from the black sand), and critter diving in black sand in Critter Creek, Pohon Merah, and Bontoh.

Day 3: Four dives in Gili Lawa. Action dives in UW mount like Castle Rock and Crystal Bommie, covered in soft coral and packed with schools and pelagics. Also, The Lighthouse, Shotgun.

Day 4: Three-day dives in the Straits between Komodo and Rinca. Manta site in Karang Makassar and the spectacular sites of Batu Bolong (a pinnacle rising from the depth sand concentrating large amounts of sealife) and Tatawa Islands. Night dive in Pulau Sebayor.

Day 5: Early morning walk to the Komodo National Park, followed by dives in Pulau Tengah and night dive in Siaba Kecil.

Day 6: Last day dives in the straits. Navigation to Labuan Bajo for departure the following morning.

All Banda Sea (Kupang-Ambon)

Day 1: Transfer to the boat upon arrival, welcome, and accommodation. Check dive in one of the muck sites in Kupang.

Day 2: Dive the west coast of Wetar, on the fishy walls around Tanjung Nunukae and the small satellite island of Reong. Visit the nearby village to look for saltwater crocodiles.

Day 3: Dive around Pulau Nyata, with stunning walls, caves, and schools of fish, plus occasional sights of pelagics.

Day 4-5: Wall dives around the islands of NusLeur, Terbang Utara, and Terbang Selatan, with impressive wide-angle scenery composed of large fans, barrel sponges, and schools of small fish.

Day 6: Dive around the volcanic island of Teun, with ridges covered in pristine hard corals and schooling surgeon, tunas, and trevallies

Day 7: Dive Duisborgh Reef in search of schools of hammerheads and other large pelagics. Night dive in Pulau Nila.

Day 8: Three day dives in Nil Desperandum in search of a school of hammerheads and other large pelagics. Overnight to Pulau Dai.

Day 9: Dive the walls of Pulau Dai in impressive sites like “To Dai For,” where a large school of barracudas awaits divers as they drift past the point.

Day 10: More wall dives in Dawera, where clouds of small anthias, damsels, and glassfish pack the crevices and overhangs, creating magnificent opportunities for WA photography.

Day 11: Dive the slopes around Pulau Nisnitu and last dive in the magnificent hard coral gardens of Karang Barasadi before sailing into Ambon to prepare for flying the morning after.

Day 1: Dive the surroundings of Ambon, check dive, and possibly night dive.

Day 4: Dive Pulau Teun, a volcanic island with walls, ridges, and sharks.

North Banda Sea & Kai Islands (Ambon-Tual)

Day 1: Two muck dives (check dive and night dive) around the Twilight Zone jetties, with a vast array of critters and oddities to be found. Overnight sail to Nusa Laut.

Day 2: Two dives at the famous site Ameth’s Knoll, a reef parallel to the coast that the local villagers have protected since the old times, allow fish to spawn and spillover to adjacent areas. Afternoon and night dives at the next village to the south. Overnight to the Banda Islands.

Day 3: Dive Pulau Soangi, and wall dives around Pulau Ai. Dusk dive at the mandarin fish site. Night in Banda Neira, the most beautiful natural anchorage of Indonesia.

Day 4: Cultural visit around Banda Neira, the heart of the Spice Islands: Fort Rotterdam, the Governor’s House, and the nutmeg plantation. After breakfast, dive Batu Kapal and afternoon dive in the Lava Flows, a stunning hard coral garden that grew at an astounding speed after Gunung Api’s last eruption in 1988. Overnight to Koon.

Day 5: Three day dives around the very strategic eastern point of Pulau Koon, where the walls on both sides of the island converge into as andy plateau facing a deep trench, congregating large masses of fish the added excitement of some pelagic sightings.

Day 6: Dive the reefs around the Watubela group, such as the walls of Kurkap and the small islands of Baam.

Day 7: Dive around Tanjung Papisoi: 335 Species record site and others around Pulau Mommon, like Karang Pata, a big seamount full packed with fish. Visit the Tiki–Tiki waterfall, a freshwater cascade that falls straight into the sea.

Day 8: Dive around Triton Bay, in the most emblematic sites like Larry’s Heaven, Caldera, and Orembai, with astounding coral growth and masses of fish, plus some muck sites on the coast. Tender boat tour around the maze of islands to see hornbills and other birds.

Day 9: Dive the Bagans for whale sharks and afternoon sail through Namatote strait to see ancient rock painting. Sail back to Tual at sunset to fly the morning after.

Day 10: Transfer to the airport after breakfast.
