The modern (2012) Ambai liveaboard is a practical and comfortable vessel built for recreational scuba diving in the Indonesian waters. The iron-wooden dive boat has a length of 32 meters and a width of 7.5 meters. It can accommodate a maximum of 16 guests.

There are eight cabins to choose from, all individually designed. All cabins have individually controlled air conditioning and a private bathroom with a hot water shower, comfortable beds/bunks, and adequate storage space.
The lower deck has six cabins, of which 4 have double beds with bunk on top, two cabins are twin, all have porthole windows. 2 upper deck cabins have more oversized windows and king-size beds.
Our guests can relax in the air-conditioned lounge on the main deck. This cool and spacious area is furnished with comfortable sofas, a dining table, widescreen television, library, etc. The partly shaded sun deck is situated on the upper deck.
It’s a magnificent place to rest and enjoy the views. For a small fee, you can recharge in the massage room. Our crew consists of 16 dedicated and highly trained members.
Ambai liveaboard serves breakfast as a buffet. Lunch and a la carte dinner, as well as intermezzo snacks and fruits, will be served al fresco as well as inside the lounge, according to your wishes. Our kitchen will always consider your particular dietary preferences. Cold beers are available from the bar.

About diving Triton Bay
The beauty of its amazing soft corals that stick out to the surface is one of the major marine attractions in Triton Bay. There are over 959 different kinds of coral fish and 471 known types of coral in this area. The other highlights include black coral forests, overflowing schools of sweetlips, vibrant macro lives, and an excellent chance to encounter whale sharks on “Bagan”— fishing platforms where these giants come to suck dozens of kg of fish from the fishing nets.

The cruise departure is from Saumlaki. That city is well served with several daily flights from Jakarta.
Soekarno-Hatta is the International airport recommended. Landing with Emirates EK 356 (the day before the cruise’s departure at 15:40) works well to continue with the domestic flight to Saumlaki. Departing at 23:45 (GA640), this Garuda Indonesia flight will land Saumlaki at 09:30.
Lion Air is a cheaper option, although the luggage allowance is only 10 kg on this route (extra kg fees: 2 €/kg).
The last day of the cruise return from Kaimana to Jakarta (12:20-17:15) with Lion Air might allow you to catch your Emirate International flight EK 357 at 00:15 (15 minutes after midnight).

DAY 6: Koon island. An incredible reef with walls, slopes, overhangs, caves, huge sponges, and too many fishes is one of the best dive sites for fish life in Indonesia, with the possibility of seeing big fishes. Macro life is also pretty good with leaf fishes, Rubeen eels, and some more—night navigation to Momom waterfall.
DAY 7: Manuk – Snakes island – 4 dives in Red cliff – Coconut point – 8 wonders – Coconut point
DAY 8-9: Banda islands with Lava flow dive. After the last eruption in 1988, coral’s regrowth boosted by minerals is impressive. Day 5: SUANGGI ISLAND – Opportunities for pelagic with sharks, Manta rays, and a profusion of life. 2 dives in this area before sailing to Banda Neira we arrive with the sunset for a mandarin fish dive.
Day 6-8: Banda islands with Lava flow dive. After the last eruption in 1988, coral’s regrowth boosted by minerals is impressive. After a second dive in Batu Kapal, pinnacles covered with sea fans and sponges, the afternoon will be dedicated to some shore visits: the fort and some spices plantations. Night Dive.
Day 9: KOON ISLAND. An incredible reef with walls, slopes, overhangs, caves, huge sponges, and too many fishes is one of the best dive sites for fish life in Indonesia, with the possibility of seeing big fishes. Macro life is also pretty good with leaf fishes, rubeen eels, and some more. Departure in the evening, after a night dive.
Day 10-12:
MISOOL EAST – Some more dives in Misool in the area of Balbulol. Pet rock, candy store, and Andiamo
MISOOL EAST – Three rocks, a marvelous small pass between two rocks, lined with sea fans and whip corals. Caves and Wall and No contest will probably be the two other dives of the day, but there are other possibilities according to current and visibility. We enter a lagoon and go to visit another lagoon hidden deep into the rocks in the evening. Night dive outside of the lagoon. We reach the South East of Misool at midday. 2 dives in the area of Yellet and Boo. Batu Kecil is an excellent dive, a pinnacles reef system with great soft corals and dense fish life. Boo point East is another soft coral-rich dive, where you can observe schools of batfishes, turtles, and napoleon wrasses. The boat will then sail to the Dampier Strait.
Day 13-14: A first morning dive at Citrus – at the entrance of the Dampier strait, a channel with sloping sides covered with soft corals and life-then with a reliable manta ray congregation at manta sandy. Cape Kri, one of the largest concentrations of big fish on the northern Raja Ampat; schools of trevally, barracudas, bannerfish, sweetlips. Night diveTwo other famous and fabulous dives in the Dampier Strait, Chicken reef, and sardine reef. The boat will sail to Sorong, where it will arrive during the evening.
Day 15: Breakfast, Check-out according to guests’ flight schedule. Transfer to the airport, check-in assistance.
Marine Life: Barracudas, surgeonfishes, Bumphead parrotfish, Trevallies, and giant trevallies, spadefish. Hammerhead sharks, Napoleon wrasse, wobbegong, tunas, bonitos, waow, manta rays, mobulas, Seahorse, frogfish, leaf fish, scorpionfish, Mandarin fish, Black corals forests, gorgonian fields, soft corals, gorgonian fields, and so much more.
The main highlight of the area is the gorgeous abundance of life, both the fixed fauna such as corals and gorgonians and the stunning abundance of fish. Trevallies, barracudas, bump-head parrotfish, spadefish, surgeonfish, fusiliers often form big schools on the reefs. Mantas rays are generally present on at least two dive sites, and encounters with bigger fishes as tunas, Spanish mackerels, reef sharks, and the “carpet shark” – Wobbegong – are frequent.
First, these pristine diving destinations combined are only reachable with liveaboards.
Second, like most Asian countries, Indonesian is subject to monsoons. Southeast monsoon and upwelling primarily on the eastern side make the Banda Sea practicable with safety during the Inter monsoons.
