Amba Liveaboard is a 33-meter luxury yacht offering diving cruises around the central atolls, Southern Atolls, and unspoiled northern atolls of the Maldives. We are pioneers in this area, giving our guests the privilege of undisturbed diving pleasure.

MV Amba is run by members of a German family that are scuba-fanatics themselves. Together with their professional crew, they provide safe and fabulous diving experiences for all guests.

During the summer months of every year, This first-class liveaboard gets maintenance and renovated to keep up the high standard. A couple of years back, it got equipped with a stabilizer system in the hull, assuring smooth travel.

Comfort

After an adventurous day, guests may relax in the large salon fitted with a modern entertainment system with a tv, DVD player, a library, and board games.

Amba Maldives has Several outdoor recreational areas on four decks include chilling zones in the sun and shade. Bean bags, sun loungers, deck chairs, tables, and couches are to be found for your ultimate convenience.

You might want to spend the night under a starry tropical sky. Blankets will be provided. Ten experienced crew members speak German, English, and Italian.

Catering

Our buffet-menus include light and elaborate breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We serve a combination of local and western cuisine in our restaurant on deck. Our chef will indulge you with delicious and healthy dishes with vegetarian options.

Your energy levels will be rekindled before every dive. Drinking water, tea, and coffee are available throughout the day. If you would like a soft drink or, after the last dive, some alcoholic beverages, you can buy them at the bar.

If you have specific dietary requests, please let us know at the time of your booking.

Diving

The Maldives’ uncrowded north presents fantastic diving sites with lively reefs and thilas (underwater mountains) with prolific and varied marine life such as manta rays and leopard sharks. Haa Alifu and Haa Dhaalu atolls are suited for the more experienced divers.

Macro enthusiasts and fans of the big species will have plenty to discover and enjoy. MV Amba offers scuba divers up to 3 dives during the daytime and the opportunity of night diving. All action takes place from a spacious, specially designed dive dhoni. Weights, tanks, nitrox, and dive guides are at your disposal.

The tours offer excellent diving spots, lots of quiet and unforgettable experiences. There is enormous biodiversity, so both our macro and large fish lovers get their money’s worth. Very experienced divers and novice divers appreciate the professionalism of the boat management and the diving instructors and guides. Instead of making general decisions, decisions are made individually and for the benefit of each diver.

 

Itinerary sample:

Day 1

  • You will be greeted by an English-speaking employee at 4 pm. in the airport’s Burger King restaurant and brought to the AMBA. Please note that earlier check-in is unfortunately not possible.

 

Day 2 – 6

  • 2 – 3 dives from the large Dhoni are offered daily, and if possible, one night dive per week. The dive sites are selected with great care, and a short but detailed briefing in English prepares the divers for the dive.
  • Additional activities:
    Beach BBQ (depending on weather conditions and route)
    Visit a local island (depending on the weather and tour)
    Snorkeling
    SUP – Stand Up Paddleboard

 

Day 7

  • A Covid-19 test must be done in the morning. If time permits, another dive will be offered.

Day 8

  • Check out from AMBA on the last day of the trip is in the morning at the latest 8 am.

 

The last dive will be on the penultimate day of the trip. Divers are recommended to wait for 24hours before flying after the last dive.

Requirements for participation in diving operations:

  • Each diving guest must be certified for a depth limit of 30 meters. AMBA’s Team is well aware of the differences between the training organizations and will adopt the decision. (PADI, SSI, CMAS, etc.) AMBA’s Team kindly asks you to have your certification (also just as a photo) ready at check-in.
  • Each diving guest must be Nitrox certified for their safety and the diving group organization, as AMBA will not provide tanks with normal air for diving in the future. Courses can be booked inexpensively onboard without prior registration. An English speaking SSI-RAID-PADI diving instructor is on board at all times.
  • In addition to the standard diving equipment, every diving guest must carry a cutting tool, buoy with reel, diving lamp, signal whistle, and a dive computer (per diver). AMS does not accept any exceptions! Replacement or rental equipment is available onboard if pre-ordered. AMBA asks divers who have their dive computers to charge their batteries before the tour. Regular servicing of the equipment is required.
  • The minimum age to take part in a tour is 12 years during the Covid-19 situation.
  • Very experienced divers are allowed to live independently in the buddy team near a dive guide.
  • If the last dive was more than two years ago or the diver is unsure about her or his experience level, AMBA asks to take a refresher course in advance.
