MS Amba is a 33-meter luxury liveaboard offering diving cruises around the unspoiled northern atolls of the Maldives. We are pioneers in this area, giving our guests the privilege of undisturbed diving pleasure. This ship is run by members of a German family that are scuba-fanatics themselves. Together with their professional crew, they provide safe and fabulous diving experiences for all guests. This first-class yacht has been recently renovated and is equipped with a stabilizer in the hull assuring smooth travel.

ACCOMMODATION

Amba has excellent accommodation for a maximum of 20 persons. On the upper deck are 2 standard cabins and a superior master cabin with private sun deck. These cabins have adjustable beds for twin or double layouts. 7 shareable cabins with twin beds are situated on the lower deck. All cabins have private bathroom facilities, air-condition and windows for fresh air and natural light.

COMFORT

After an adventurous day, guests may relax in the large salon fitted with a modern entertainment system and library. Several outdoor recreational areas on 4 decks include chilling zones in the sun and shade. Bean bags, sun beds, deck chairs, tables and couches are to be found for your ultimate convenience. You might want to spend the night under a starry tropical sky. Blankets will be provided. 10 experienced crew members speak German, English and Italian.

CATERING

Our buffet-menus include a light and elaborate breakfast, lunch and dinner. We serve a combination of local and western cuisine in our restaurant on deck. Our chef will indulge you with delicious and healthy dishes with vegetarian options. Your energy levels will be rekindled before every next dive. Beer, wine and soft drinks are for sale at the bar. If you have specific dietary requests, please let us know at the time of your booking.

DIVING

The uncrowded northern region presents amazing diving spots with lively reefs and thilas (underwater mountains) with prolific and varied marine life. These waters in the Indian Ocean are suited for the more experienced divers. Macro enthusiasts, as well as fans of the big species, will have plenty to discover and enjoy. An Amba Maldives excursion offers scuba divers up to 3 dives during daytime as well as the opportunity of night diving. All action takes place from a spacious, special designed dive dhoni. Weights, tanks, nitrox and dive guides are at your disposal.

ITINERARIES

These are example itineraries to give you an indication of the liveaboard cruises. The final cruise might be different due to weather, sea conditions and/or guest experience. The final call is always with the boat manager and the captain of the liveaboard. This to ensure your safety as well as to give you a dive holiday never to forget.

Northern Atolls
  • Departure Port: Hanimadhoo

The Haa-Alifu-Atoll is the northernmost atoll from the Maldives and the distance to the capital Male is 480 miles. This atoll has a special meaning for the Maldivians. Here is the birth island of the nations hero Muhammad Thakurufaanu (1573-1585). Sultan Ghaazee Muhammad Thakurufaanu freed the Maldives from the Portuguese rule. The capital Dhidhoo has about 10.000 people that live on the 16 populated islands, 24 more islands in the Maldives are inhabited.

The Amba was the first and the only diving yacht on the North of the Maldives. We start our diving trips from Hanimaadhoo in the Haa Alifu-Atoll. The transfer to the northernmost atoll of the Maldives from Male via a small aeroplane (a half hour flight).

After your arrival in Male, you will use the domestic flight to Hanimaadhoo. While the flight you will enjoy a fantastic view over the atolls and islands of the Maldives. Don’t forget your video and camera.

After your arrival, we will pick up you from Hanimaadhoo.

Join Amba as you explore three of the most famous atolls in the Maldives: Male and North and South Ari Atolls. Be accompanied by pods of dolphins as you cross between atolls, and enjoy the stunning underwater scenery with underwater formations and huge fans, with the possibility of bumping into a whale shark or two along the way.

Cruise aboard Amba from Hanimaadhoo in the North to the Baa Atoll, or from Baa Atoll to Hanimaadhoo, a mix of hotspots and pristine dive sites. The special cruises will depart in Hanimaadhoo, then it’s one week to the Baa Atoll. From Baa Atoll (Dharavandhoo) it then goes back North to Hanimaadhoo where we end our tour. The domestic flight to Dharavandhoo, as well as the domestic flight to Hanimaadhoo, can be booked with us at the same booking price. Reef diving dives on Thilas and through channels where big fish, swarms, soft and hard coral gardens will enchant you … and of course, night dives will be on the menu as well.
